Greek Air Force Pilot Killed in Trainer Crash, Kalamata, Greece

At approximately 0500 EST, initial reports indicated that a Hellenic  Air Force T-2 training air craft crashed in Kalamata, Greece. By 0600 EST, local media reported that a single pilot had been killed in the crash.

By 0700 EST, the Hellenic Air Force made this announcement:

”On Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at 11:28, a T-2E Buckeye aircraft of the 120PEA/363MEA, performing a training flight, crashed, during its return, half a nautical mile northwest of the Kalamata airport.”

At 0800 EST, the Greek Prime Minister made this announcement, naming Ensign Epaminondas Kosteas as the deceased.

The Hellenic Air Force flies the T-2 Buckeye from Kalamata Air Base with the 120th Air Wing, specifically the 362nd Air Training Squadron “Nestor”. The pilot was most likely attached to that unit.
