Russia announced today that they are holding talks with the United States for a prisoner swap that would see convicted arms trafficker Viktor Bout returned to Russia.
It is speculated that this prisoner swap would include Brittney Griner, the WNBA star currently in a Russian penal colony in the Mordovia region.
Regarding this possible prisoner swap, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said, “I want to hope that the prospect not only remains but is being strengthened, and that the moment will come when we will get a concrete agreement… Viktor Bout is among those who are being discussed, and we certainly count a positive result.”
