Al-Tanf Garrison in Syria Targeted By Drones

On June 22nd, three drones were reportedly shot down by US air defenses at the US coalition base al-Tanf in Homs Province, Syria, according to the Syrian news outlet North Press Agency. The drones reportedly were launched from Iraqi territory. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

The attack, if confirmed, could indicate that the uneasy standdown of the Iranian-backed militias targeting US forces in Syria and Iraq is over.

On June 19th, the Iraqi Resistance Coordination Committee held a meeting at which they agreed to “continue to strive for the country’s sovereignty,” according to a statement posted to the Kaf Telegram channel associated with the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, indicating a possible consensus to resume attacks.
