Commander ‘Abu Hudhayfah’ of Hamza Division was assassinated on Wednesday amid SNA infighting in occupied Afrin city. Hudhayfah helped organize Afrin’s sex slavery industry in the wake of the 2018 invasion of Afrin, subsequently trafficking enslaved women to Libya following Hamza Division’s January 2020 deployment to northwestern Libya. Hamza Division was also deployed to Azerbaijan in 2020 to fight Armenian forces in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).
Infighting over stolen land and resources is a common occurrence in Turkish-occupied Afrin, resulting in frequent assassination attempts and civilian deaths. Despite the weaponization of mass rape and sex slavery against Afrin’s population, Western states continue to fund much of this operation with their citizens’ tax money. Hamza Division and allied militias in the Syrian National Army (SNA) receive support from NATO through munitions, training, and intelligence from the Turkish state.
