North Korea Fires Suspected Ballistic Missile

Update (2036 EST): South Korean and Japanese officials believe the missile launch was an ICBM.

At approximately 2028 EST, the South Korean Joint Chiefs announced that a single projectile had been launched by North Korea. The Japanese Defense Ministry confirmed by saying that an unconfirmed ballistic missile had launched.

Yesterday, North Korea launched its 62nd ballistic missile of the year, which fell into the Sea of Japan outside of the Japanese Exclusive Economic Zone. These numbers eclipse the 28 launches carried out in 2019.
