At approximately 0725 EST, initial reports indicated a large German police presence at Hamburg airport due to a threat made against a civilian commercial jet.

Hamburg airport has halted operations because of a security threat just two hours before French President Emmanuel Macron is due to land at the nearby Airbus factory for a bilateral meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and both cabinets.

By 0800 EST, local media confirmed that Iranian Airlines flight IR723, which landed earlier today from Tehran was the target of a threatening email. All 198 passengers and 16 crew members were evacuated and subject to additional security checks, as of this publication they have not been released.
This threat comes at the same time as a meeting between French President Macron and German Chancellor Scholz at a nearby Airbus facility. Police have not commented on the background of the threat.
