More than 30 former UK Royal Air Force pilots have been recruited by China to train People’s Liberation Air Force pilots. The UK Ministry of Defense has published a threat alert to active and retired pilots to resist such offers.
The packages offered go for more than $270,000 for a mere few weeks of training. While F-35 pilots are being targeted, most of the pilots that have accepted offers are Jaguar, Eurofighter, and Harrier pilots. They were brought on as instructors to help PLA pilots understand western fighters and mechanics. Currently this does not break any UK law, but did spur the previously mentioned amendment to the National Security Bill.
