Canadian Police Bring Down Terrorism Charges Over Plot To Overthrow Haitian Government

Today, Canadian police stated that they had charged a man with terrorism. According to the charges, the man planned to overthrow the government of the now-assassinated Jovenel Moïse.

For those who don’t remember, former Haitian President Jovenel Moïse’s term ended with his assassination a little over a year ago.

The man arrested was a 51-year-old resident of Levis, a city in eastern Quebec.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police stated, “It is alleged that he took concrete actions, including traveling to Haiti to coordinate a group of individuals whose intention was to take part in a coup against the established authority.”
