In an unexpected move, Chinese authorities have reportedly released student protesters who were arrested over the past two nights in Shanghai. According to sources, the students did not receive criminal charges.

It is a curious move for Chinese authorities to release these students so quickly and without charges. It may be that they were released to not antagonize the protesters who could then use the arrest to justify their cause and rally more Chinese citizens.
