IRGC Officer Assassinated in Tehran

Iranian media have reported that an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) officer identified as Qasim Fathollahi, of the 27th Mohammad Rasulullah Division, was mortally wounded after being shot several times outside of his house in Tehran. It remains unknown who carried out the shooting, but it comes amid continued anti-government protests across Iran. The Mohammad Rasulullah Division, which is based in Tehran, is integrated with Basij paramilitary units in the capital, who have been heavily involved in protest suppression.
