North Korea Calls for “Perfecting” War Readiness Posturing

During a Central Military Commission meeting, North Korea military leadership discussed “the issue of constantly expanding and intensifying the operation and combat drills of the Korean People’s Army (KPA) to cope with the prevailing situation and more strictly perfecting the preparedness for war,” according to North Korean state media.

The meeting, which was presided over by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un presided, also discussed “in depth the major military and political tasks for 2023 and the long-term issues concerning the orientation for army building,” which comes as the country is gearing up for a military parade this Wednesday to commemorate the KPA’s 75th anniversary.
