The French Assemblée Nationale on March 28th voted to recognize the Holodomor, a famine (among other things) in Ukraine in 1932-33, as genocide. The vote was 168 for, 2 against. Both Ukrainian President Zelenskyy and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitro Kuleba expressed their gratitude to France via twitter.
La France vient de reconnaître #Holodomor de 1932-33 comme génocide du peuple ??. Reconnaissance aux députés de @AssembleeNat ?? pour cette décision historique. I am grateful to France for recognizing the 1932-33 Holodomor as a genocide of Ukrainians and for honoring the memory of the victims of Stalin and his regime. With this historic vote, @AssembleeNat made it clear that such crimes will never be forgotten and must never be repeated.
