Mastermind Behind Kabul Airport Bombing Reportedly Killed in Taliban Raid

The suspected Islamic State – Khorasan Province (ISKP) mastermind behind the 2021 Kabul Airport bombing, which left 13 American service members and 169 Afghan civilians dead during evacuation efforts out of Afghanistan, was killed during a Taliban raid against a militant hideout sometime in April, according to AP.

AP cited Darin Hoover, father of Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Darin Taylor Hoover, who said that the gold star families of the slain service members were informed by military officials. The account from Hoover was also confirmed to AP by unnamed three U.S. officials and a senior congressional aide.
