US Convoy Attacked in Nigeria, Per White House

White House National Security Council Spokesman John Kirby confirmed to reporters that a United States convoy was attacked by unspecified combatants in Nigeria.

He added that “we are aware of some casualties, perhaps even some killed, but I don’t want to get too far ahead of where we are right now,” however, he did say that no Americans were among the casualties.

The exact location of the attack, as well as the purpose of the convoy, remains unknown at this time.

The Islamic jihadist groups Boko Haram and Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) are both active in the country.
