The Rwandan Ministry of Defence has posted on its social media outlets that an image that had been circulating, appearing to show a Rwandan MoD release declaring war on the DRC, is in fact fake. The image claims that Rwanda has been “threatened” by the DRC, and that Rwanda had declared war and would attack Goma “by the next morning”. The image appears to have generated enough buzz to where the MoD had to comment on it, referring to it as “Fake News”.

Notably, the fake image also misspelled “declaration” as “declareation”.
