Hamas Commander Killed in Airstrike, Per IDF

The IDF has announced that Ma’taz Eid, commander of the southern district of Hamas’ national security, was killed today during an airstrike in Gaza.

In a statement, it was reported that the strike was carried out at the intelligence direction of the IDF and the Shin Bet, Israel’s internal security service.

I was not able to find any additional information about Ma’taz Eid or his previous involvement in Hamas.

The statement went on to add that “the IDF attacked about 250 military targets, most of them in the north of the Gaza Strip” on Sunday. The IDF said that “dozens of military headquarters, a row of observation posts, as well as several rocket launching positions of the terrorist organizations Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad were destroyed.”
