Biden’s Impromptu Visit to Jordan Cancelled

Less than 24 hours after it was announced US President Joe Biden’s visit to Jordan has been cancelled. His visit was to take place before Wednesday’s visit to Israel, where he would be meeting with King Abdullah II of Jordan, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt, and Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority in order to discuss the present conflict between Gaza and Israel.

The white house stated that the cancellation was “mutual” based upon the political situation in Jordan and the days of mourning declared by Abbas following the hospital strike in Gaza, which has reportedly (according to Palestinian sources) killed several hundred. Jordanian news companies, however, are reporting that Jordan had cancelled the meeting.
