Iran-Backed Militias Attempt to Carry Out Explosive Drone Attacks Against American Forces in Iraq

On Wednesday, Iran-backed Shia militias attempted to carry out explosive drone attacks against American military forces at the al-Asad and al-Harir air bases in Iraq.

In a statement, Tashkil al-Warsin claimed responsibility for launching explosive drones at al-Harir, stating that it was part of “al-Aqsa Flood,” which is Hamas’ campaign against Israel.

Likewise, Islamic Resistance in Iraq also claimed responsibility for launching explosive drones at al-Asad, but made no mention of it being in support of Hamas.

While the United States military has not formally commented on the matter, defense officials have told American media that two drones were launched at al-Asad and one was launched at al-Harir, however, all three were intercepted and there were no reported casualties.
