Boeing Confirms Cyber Incident After Threats

On Wednesday 1 November, logistical elements of aerospace and defense corporation Boeing were confirmed by the corporation to have suffered a cyber incident. Cyber criminal group Lockbit had announced the exfiltration of sensitive data from Boeing’s networks days before this incident.

A Boeing spokesperson has stated that the attack has not affected flight safety. “We are actively investigating the incident and coordinating with law enforcement and regulatory authorities. We are notifying our customers and suppliers.”

Lockbit threatened to release the stolen data on 2 November if the ransom is not paid in their dark net blog posted on 27 October. Despite their original threat, Lockbit decided to pulled their Boeing post from their site, potentially due to ransom negotiations as per the Vx-underground Telegram. Boeing has declined to attribute this event to Lockbit or any other group.
