Israel Will Take “Overall Security Responsibility” of Gaza After War, Per Netanyahu

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that Israel will take “overall security responsibility” of Gaza after the war against Hamas according to AFP, granted, the IDF is successful in eliminating the group.

Netanyahu’s statements appear to be in contrast to statements previously made by Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, who said that there would be a “removal of Israel’s responsibility for life in the Gaza Strip” following the war, reiterating that neither Hamas nor Israel would control the region.

The future of Gaza has remained unclear following a removal of Hamas. It has been speculated that a new Palestinian Authority could be created, the United Nations could establish a peacekeeping force or security could be managed by a coalition of Arab countries, although there has yet to be a consensus on a solidified plan.
