COGAT, the “Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories: Judea and Samaria and towards the Gaza Strip” (an Israeli government organization), has announced that Egypt is opening two additional crossings in order to expand Egypt’s capacity for processing and performing security checks upon aid that is to enter Gaza. The checkpoints are to open tomorrow, December 12th.
Beginning tomorrow, Kerem Shalom Crossing will open for security checks on aid shipments from Al-Arish.
The simultaneous security checks at Kerem Shalom and Nitzana crossings will DOUBLE the volume of aid delivered through the Rafah Crossing and admitted into the Gaza Strip. pic.twitter.com/76CYsaSIT4— COGAT (@cogatonline) December 11, 2023
COGAT claims that the two checkpoints being opened will double the amount of aid able to enter Gaza through the Rafah crossing.
