At approximately 0845 EST, the United Kingdom Maritime Transportation Operations authority (UKMTO) reported that a merchant vessel was being approached by two small vessels 23 NM northwest of Assab, Eritrea.
However, by 0930 EST, the UKMTO confirmed that the vessels had terminated pursuit after attempting to hail the vessel and change its course. The vessel has moved on and the crew has been reported safe.
