Turkey not Attending Davos2024 over War in Israel

Turkey will not be present at the World Economic Forum (WEF), citing the W.E.F.’s stance on the war and ongoing support for Israel by many of the W.E.F.’s members as to why.

Mehmet Simsek, Turkey’s Treasury and Finance minister, was set to attend- until Turkish President Erdogan prevented this from happening. Mehmet has not commented on the matter.

The World Economic Forum is currently taking place in Davos, Switzerland, located in the Swiss Alps, and will go on for five days, until the 19th. Many top officials from around the world will be attending regardless of the Israeli-Gaza crisis.

Erdogan has supported Palestine, condemning Israel and the military offensive on Gaza. Given all this, it is unknown if Turkey will attend the next W.E.F. meeting.
