Strategic Commander of Myanmar Military Dies of An Alleged Heart Attack

Major Hein Thet Aung, a key figure in Myanmar’s military, passed away suddenly on February 7th, 2024. The commander’s cause of death was reported as a heart attack, though the underlying reason for his collapse remains unknown.

Some sources assert that organ failure resulted from escalating pressure from his superiors, while others argue that natural causes led to his heart attack. Factual evidence supporting both claims is currently under investigation.

Aung played a prominent role as a leader overseeing military operations in the Saigon Region under the command of Kalaymyo. He was also the commander of the Junta base in the Chin State capital of Hakha and oversaw operations in both Hakha and Thantlang townships. Aung was a significant figure in the region’s hard-power command structure.
