A delegation from Hanwha Defense Australia's Training Team attended a driver exposure training course for the AS-21 Redback Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) on February 7th..The course provided basic operator and maintenance training for the instructors and allowed them to gain an understanding of the IFV's performance..The training course is intended to allow the instructors to gain a baseline knowledge of the IFV and to enable progress towards creating detailed instructor development..The AS-21 will replace the aging M113AS4 Armored Personnel Carriers (APC) currently in service with the Australian Army..The AS-21's protection features include Plasan ballistic armor rated up to STANAG level 6, which protects vehicles from up to 30mm cannon fire, RPGs, top attacks, and underbelly attacks from landmines and Improvised Explosive Devices. The IFV also includes spall liner kits and other add-on armor packages to increase protection.
