Chinese Police Challenged in International Competition

Units from China’s tactical police community recently participated in the international SWAT Challenge held in the UAE. The four day event is designed to test teams in five separate time-trials ranging from hostage rescue to obstacle courses. This year saw 87 competing teams from 48 countries attend, with three Chinese police teams present.

The 2024 competition was the largest to date, and other international representatives included Brazilian BOPE, Chechen Akhmat Special Forces, San Antonio PD, and the Iraqi Counter Terrorism Service.

This was China’s first time sending a delegation, with participants including the Hong Kong Police Tactical Team, and the Zhejiang Provincial Public Security Department. The Hong Kong team placed 25th overall, while the mainland teams ranked 38th, and 52nd.
