On February 15th, hackers from an unknown group took over the X (formally Twitter) account of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG). The group erased content as old as 2013, along with the profile picture and logo. Officials regained access to the account by mid-day the same day, with the assistance of X technical support.
Two weeks prior, the Department of Information and Communications Technology dealt with similar cyberattacks allegedly originating from China against Google workspaces and emails of the PCG and other government agencies.
Currently, it is officially unknown if the same hacking group was responsible for both attacks.
