Several Wounded After Grenade Launcher Fired During Children’s Sambo Tournament in Melitopol

Several people were wounded after an armed grenade launcher was fired inside of a school that was hosting a children’s sambo tournament in the Russian-controlled city of Melitopol, Ukraine, on Saturday.

Head of the Ukrainian Zaporizhzhia Oblast Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov, released a statement saying that “Residents have reported that an explosion occurred today during a sports competition in Melitopol’s Sports Facility No.3, which was soon followed by the urgent evacuation of children from the building. Ambulance cars and police arrived at the scene. The building was, of course, cordoned off, and the window panels were blown out.”

Local sources also reported Russian soldiers brought the grenade launcher to show off to children at the tournament and that it was accidentally fired, which was caught on camera. At least six people were wounded.
