A Los Angeles woman has been arrested by Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) in the city of Yekaterinburg. The 33-year-old woman is a dual U.S.-Russian citizen. Her identity has not been made public.
According to Russian-state media TASS, she is being charged with high treason (Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) for allegedly raising funds for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The FSB claims that the woman began collecting funds for Ukraine’s military when the invasion began in February 2022. Those funds were allegedly used to purchase “tactical medicine items”, ammunition, and weapons for Ukrainian forces. She is also accused of attending multiple pro-Ukraine rallies in the United States.
