The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has released a statement saying that the Greek-flagged, U.S.-owned bulk carrier M/V Sea Champion was transporting grain to the Yemeni port city of Aden when it was attacked by Houthi Forces on Monday..Two anti-ship ballistic missiles were fired at the vessel, causing minor damage, however, the vessel was able to continue its course, marking its 11th aid delivery to Yemen in recent years.."Houthi aggression in the region has exacerbated already high levels of need in conflict-impacted Yemen, which remains one of the largest humanitarian crises in the world, with nearly 80 percent of the entire population needing humanitarian assistance. We are committed to countering the Houthis' malign activities, which directly endanger the imports of foodstuff and humanitarian aid to Yemen," CENTCOM added..It is important to note that Aden is controlled by the Southern Transitional Council, which is part of the internationally recognized Yemeni government body under the Presidential Leadership Council.
