On February 12th, an aircraft likely originating from Malaysia flew over Singaporean airspace. The unauthorized flight resulted in the Republic of Singapore Air Force scrambling two F-16s in response.
This comes after a pattern of past behaviors on September 11th, 2021 (20 years after the 9/11 attacks) and August 9th, 2023 (National Day of Singapore). Reports of the airspace breaches have been confirmed by the Ministry of Defense in Singapore (MINDEF).
These tactics are likely done to contest Singaporean airspace and interrupt Changi Airport operations.
