Taiwan Detected Eleven Chinese Ships Around Kinmen Island

The Taiwanese Ministry of National Defense claimed they have detected eleven Chinese vessels around waters around Kinmen Island, making it the highest number this year.

After the information cutoff time of 6 a.m. local time yesterday, China sent fifteen aircraft, eleven vessels, and one balloon into the sky and waters surrounding Taiwan. Reports also suggest an additional fifteen more aircraft were detected in the hours after.

A Chinese maritime surveillance ship along with four more China Coast Guard ships entered restricted waters for a brief moment around Kinmen, according to Ocean Affairs Council Minister Kuan Bi-ling.

Yesterday, China’s Taiwan Affairs Office spokeswoman, Zhu Fenglian, told a news briefing that China does not recognize off-limit demarcations of Chinese fishermen around Kinmen.
