The First European Climate Risk Assessment Reveals Europe’s Unpreparedness for the Future

On March 11th, it was reported by Reuters that the European Environment Agency’s first-ever climate risk assessment found that Europe is facing growing climate risks and is unprepared to handle them.

The report also said that Europe is the fastest-warming continent and has been heating up twice as fast as other regions of the world, since the 1980s. Economic losses due to climate change could reach 1 trillion euros (1.1 trillion dollars) per year by the end of the century, according to the report.

The increase of heat has been linked to more intense rains and flooding in northern Europe, and more severe droughts in southern Europe.
