On March 14th, Taiwan detected twenty-six People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and at least ten People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) near or around the island. At least 18 PLA aircraft reportedly crossed the median line between Taiwan and China.
These crossings took place between 6 a.m. local time on March 13th and 6 a.m. local time on March 14th. The aircraft crossed the Median Line separating the two sides and proceeded to enter Taiwan’s northern, southwestern, and eastern Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ).
These reports came from the Ministry of National Defense for Taiwan. The significant increase in flights around Taiwan comes after the United States announced a military aid package of approximately $100 million USD to Taiwan and the end of the Two Sessions.
