Volcano in Iceland Erupts for the Fourth Time this Year

A volcano has erupted today for the fourth time since December in Reykjanes, Iceland. Police forces have declared a state of emergency for that area and have deployed a Civil Defence Authority helicopter to monitor the scene. The eruption began today, and there is no current projection for its end.

Reports describe the volcano as expelling molten rock into the air, with hot lava following it. Warnings of another eruption from this particular volcano have been reported over the past few weeks, emphasizing that it was just a matter of time before the next one occurred.

Evacuation of Grindavik has begun, a small fishing town near the volcano. Iceland is home to 33 active volcanoes and experiences eruptions frequently.
