Man Detained After Molotov Cocktail Attack, Russian Embassy, Chisinau

At approximately 0530 EST, a man was detained in Chisinau, Moldova for throwing two Molotov cocktails over the fence into the Russian embassy. This incident interrupted presidential voting for about an hour as the flames were extinguished and authorities searches for the suspect.

This incident follows a string of dramatic dissidence throughout the Russian Federation this election period including ballot box dye dumping and arson attacks. However, this is the first reported election dissidence outside the borders of the Russian Federation, not counting election disruption due to combat operations inside occupied Ukraine where several polling stations were closed after Ukrainian missile strikes.

The Russian Federation is allowing voting in presidential elections in occupied portions of Georgia and Ukraine as well as satellite enclaves in Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Moldova.
