Poland: Farmers Protest Against EU Policies and External Imports

Polish farmers have intensified their protests against EU environmental policies and agricultural imports, particularly from Ukraine, by blocking key border points with Germany.

These protests are driven by the EU’s suspension of customs duties on Ukrainian produce and opposition to climate-related restrictions under the EU’s Green Deal. The farmers’ demands include a reinstatement of these duties and a relaxation of environmental regulations, claiming they negatively impact their livelihoods.

This unrest reflects wider dissatisfaction among European farmers, with similar protests occurring across Europe during the past few months, notably in France and Belgium.

More demonstrations are planned on the Polish roads for March 20.
