Belgorod Region Still Under Fire: One Dead and Several Injured in Strikes

Recent days have seen a series of attacks in the Belgorod region of Russia, which borders Ukraine, leading to casualties and substantial damage.

On the morning of March 22 2024, a strike resulted in the death of a woman and left several others injured, according to local governor Viatcheslav Gladkov. The attack, attributed to Ukrainian forces by Russia, also led to damage to three medical facilities and multiple residences. Concurrently, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the interception of eight rockets from Ukraine’s RM-70 Vampire rocket system over Belgorod.

The previous day, on March 21, the city of Belgorod experienced explosions that resulted in injuries to five individuals and caused damage to over 30 apartments across six buildings. The Belgorod Arena was notably affected, with significant damage reported. The incidents also caused electrical outages, impacting approximately 5,000 residents.

These developments come amidst the ongoing counter-offensive in Russia led by the pro-Kyiv ‘Freedom of Russia Legion’ group.
