On Monday, March 25th, Boko Haram militants successfully attacked a convoy of Chadian military troops through a complex IED ambush on a convoy moving between Tchoukoutalia and Baltoua in the Lake Chad Basin.
Transitional President General Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno said in a statement on Tuesday:
“I bow to the memory of the fallen victims, offer my sincere condolences to the bereaved families and express my sincere wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured. The nation will never forget the supreme sacrifice of our valiant soldiers.”

However, this morning, EFE Africa reported that the Chad military had launched a counterattack against an unnamed Boko Haram base, killing 19 militants for two of their own.
