Ethnic Group Pa-O National Liberation Organization Calls Signatories to Fight Junta

The Pa-O National Liberation Organization (PNLO) has called on the other signatories of the 2015 Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) to pick up arms and take action against the military junta after the PNLO left peace talks to fight the junta in January of this year.

PNLO President, General Khun Thurein, said: “The military dictators are champions in lying. They are destroying homes and killing people. We should not support them,” on Sunday, March 24th.

Out of the ten signatories of the 2015 agreement, seven of them formed an alliance to continue peace talks in Chiang Mai.

General Khun Thurein said groups continuing peace talks with the junta are “daydreaming,” claiming “armed resistance is the only way to root out the dictatorship.” The PNLO battled the junta at Sam Hpu village in Hopong Township, Shan State, in January, amid other attacks.
