Julian Assange to be Released from Prison

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has agreed to a plea deal with the United States Department of Justice, where he will plead guilty to a single count of conspiracy to obtain and disclose national defense information and be released after five years served in British prison, with no plans for extradition to the US.

Assange has been locked in a 14 year long legal battle with the US government over the release of hundreds of thousands of classified documents about the war in Iraq and Afghanistan that were obtained through former military intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning.
