Coup Attempt in Bolivia Fails as Military Forces Withdraw from Capital

Bolivian military coup leader General Juan Jose Zuniga and his forces have withdrawn from the capital after storming the Presidential Palace.

The withdrawal comes as President Luis Arce swore in new commanders for the country’s armed forces and as Arce supporters began taking to the streets around the palace.

Deputy Minister of the Interior and Police, Jhonny Aguilera, yelled “we are going to look for you Zuniga” and “Zuniga you are going to be imprisoned” as he left the scene.
