Russian and Syrian Troops Injured in Explosion, Hasakah, Syria

At approximately 0756 EST, an explosion was reported in front of Pearl Medical Center in Hasakah, Syria. Eyewitness reports indicated that a Russian 4×4 was damaged in the explosion.

By 0800 EST, local media claimed that one Russian soldier, two Syrian government personnel, and three civilians were injured in the blast.

It is not currently clear what caused the explosion. However, the injury of a Russian soldier is unique. The last confirmed death of a Russian soldier in Syria was in June 2023.

Al-Hasakah is the capital city of the Al-Hasakah Governorate, in the northeastern corner of Syria. Russian forces mediated a ceasefire to protect Syrian government buildings in the regional capital when fighting reached its peak in 2016 with the YPG.
