Colombian Soldiers Killed in ELN Attack, Norte De Santander

At least nine Colombian National Army soldiers have been killed and eighteen have been injured following an ELN attack on a military base in El Carmen, Norte De Santander, Colombia. The militants reportedly targeted a a platoon of soldiers that are part of the Special Energy and Road Battalion No. 10. The soldiers were providing security in a village near the base when a complex attack initiated by improvised explosive devices began at 0300 local time this morning.

Among the fatalities are two non-commissioned officers and four professional soldiers. According to the authorities, members of the Camilo Torres front were be responsible for this ambush. This is the fifth registered ELN attack in March 2023.
