Islamic Resistance in Iraq Confirms 5 Deaths in Alleged American Airstrike

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an umbrella organization of Iran-backed Shia militias, has confirmed the deaths of five of its fighters amid claims of an American airstrike against militia forces in Iraq today.

Earlier today, Sabereen News and other militia-affiliated media sources claimed that an American airstrike targeted a militia position in Kirkuk, killing five people.

Later in the day, al-Monitor and Reuters, both citing unnamed security sources, reported that the United States had carried out a self defense strike against a militia rocket position.

This comes as Iran-backed proxy forces launched four strikes against American forces in Iraq and Syria over the past 48 hours, which coincides with the ceasefire lapse in Gaza.
