Thirty One Killed, Seven Injured in Restaurant Explosion, Yinchuan, China

At approximately 1336 EST, reports began to emerge from eyewitnesses that an explosion rocked a restaurant in the Xingqing district of Yinchuan, Ningxia, China. Social media reports of the incident were quickly clamped down and no other reports emerged until Chinese state-owned media picked up the story at 1920 EST. They reported that thirty eight had been rescued after a gas leak after the:

“operation room of Fuyang Barbecue Restaurant on Minzu South Street in the district caused an explosion, resulting in 38 casualties, 31 of whom died after rescue efforts failed, and 7 people are being treated with all their strength (1 critically ill, 2 moderately burned) , 2 people with mild symptoms, and 2 people with glass scratches).”

At 2146 EST, Chinese authorities finally reported the total number dead at thirty one and seven injured.
