Colombian Prosecutor’s Office Formally Charges 24 Participants in Massacre
Colombia's Prosecutor's Office announced they would begin formal proceedings against 24 members of the nation's military for their role in the 2022 Alto Remanso massacre, which left 11 civilians dead amid thousands of rounds fired and multiple detonations of fragmentation grenades in the small hamlet. The soldiers in question reported that they engaged insurgents belonging to a splinter faction of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia known as the Estado Mayor Central (FARC-EMC) who were allegedly entrenched in the hamlet. However, no bodies of FARC-EMC fighters were recovered from the scene.
