GRAPHIC: Ramming and Shooting Attack Reported in Romema, Jerusalem

At approximately 0108 EST, initial reports indicated that a ramming and shooting attack was under way on Tkhelet Mordekhai Street in the Romema area of Jerusalem, Israel. Initially, two pedestrians were reported as injured, and two suspects were at large after attempting to shoot the civilians they struck with their vehicle..The video can be viewed here..By 0200 EST, emergency services announced that three civilians were hospitalized with minor injuries from being struck by the suspect's vehicle. In the video, it appears that the two suspects attempt to shoot the people they just struck with their car, however the suspects' weapon jams and the injured civilians are able to flee. Neither of the suspects are able to perform corrective actions to successfully operate the firearm, it appears that slamming the firearm on the ground via the magazine is not an effective method in clearing a jam. The suspects ditched the firearm in a nearby staircase before fleeing police. Emergency services canvassed the area and inspected the vehicle..A full-scale manhunt ensued for nearly three hours until 0445 EST when two male-suspects were finally arrested. Two 18-year-olds from the West Bank were arrested, Hatem Kiasma and Matez Golem from Hebron..As of this publication, the three injured civilians have all been discharged from the hospital and are expected to make a full recovery from what could have been a much more deadly outcome..This attack follows a string of shootings and rammings in the West Bank stemming from a large-scale Israeli settler raid on Palestinian villages after the mid-April slaying of a 14-year-old Jewish boy. This escalation in violence in the West Bank has been praised by Hezbollah and Hamas which are encouraging Palestinian civilians to increase attacks on the IDF and Jews as the military campaign in Gaza and the Northern Borders rage on.
