Continued Roadblocks for Colombia’s “Total Peace” Plan
At least five Colombian soldiers were wounded in combat with a splinter faction of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia known as the Estado Mayor Central (FARC-EMC)—a leftist guerrilla group originally formed in 1964—on Sunday and Monday amid increased operations against the group following the dissolution of a ceasefire between the group and the Colombian government in March. The clash took place near Argelia, Cauca Department, a department which boasts a large presence of FARC-EMC fighters.
