In 2024, two assassination attempts were directed against former President Donald Trump, highlighting the strategic significance of firearm selection and configuration in high-profile assaults. Two occurrences occurred: one in July at a rally in Pennsylvania and another in September at a Florida golf club, involving an AR-15 chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO and a modified SKS in 7.62x39mm. An examination of the weaponry employed and the strategic errors of the assailants enhances our understanding of the dynamic characteristics of political violence and informs the adaptation of future security plans.
